The Miami-Dade County Home Rule Charter is our constitution. We, the electors of Miami-Dade County, have the right to review our Charter every five years. Learn about the Charter, participate in the process, and decide what we, the electors, want our government to look like.
The Charter sets the rules on how the County runs and how we are governed. It states the powers of the Board of County Commissioners (Board) and the Mayor, but most importantly, gives residents power too through the Citizen’s Bill of Rights. We have the right to amend our Charter by voting at the ballot box.
